What I Wore: The Dany Debut!

shoes: Jessica Simpson Dany
handbag: ASOS
belt: Thrifted (Santa Barbara)
green ring: F21
OKAY! I need to confess to you guys that I am beyond excited to share with you my first "official" outfit post wearing my Jessica Simpson Dany platforms. No lie, I seriously drooled over these shoes for waaay over a year, but now the wait is finally over! The main reason why I waited soooo long to get these babies was because I was not able to make up my mind on whether I wanted the tan pair or the black pair. Now my new problem is that I want them in all colors! I want the JS Dany in the tan leather, black leather, and the purple velvet! Please don't judge me... I am telling you, this shoe is perfect for the day worn with skinny jeans, and perfect for night worn with a body-con dress... yeap the Dany is the perfect shoe that goes both ways! ;)
-Outfit Notes-
- This vintage gold sweater had been sitting in my closet for years! I love the texture, but do not love the fit. For some reason when I wear the sweater open it makes me look wider on top, meaning it makes my shoulders look wider than what they actually are. My solution: I wrapped the sweater in a "kimono style" and then belted it (it does not matter if it does not look even, once the belt is on it looks effortless and chic! ) If you have any ill fitting open shirts/blouses, cardigans, or sweaters I recommend that you try this little trick to see if you can get a few "wears" from your "dead" items. I also like to use this trick on oversized button downs, just remember DO NOT button the buttons before wrapping and belting it.
- I also had this dress sitting in my closet taking up "closet space" after I washed it shrank and became considerably shorter. I have a long torso, because of this I am very picky with skirt lengths, especially when comes to skirts with a "loose" type of hem. Wearing black tights under the dress allowed me to feel a lot more comfortable wearing the dress pretty much anywhere. Also, the fact that the tights are not very sheer makes this combo wearable for work just by adding a blazer!
-Lastly! don't be afraid to layer! I love layering unexpected pieces over one another. Layering is a great way to make old items from your closet look like brand new ones.
Soo glad I was able to re-work/ revive these "dead" pieces by smart styling ;)
what are your "styling tricks"? Please do share..
